An innovative project run by Tim Kahn of the PLA is looking at ways to encourage fathers to get more involved and is about to run some pilot studies.
Fathers Matter, a PLA leaflet to be used in some of the studies, suggests simple measures settings can adopt to encourage fathers.
'When publicising events for fathers it is useful to think about the language that you use, as certain words tend to appeal more to men and others to women. For example: A course entitled "Child Development" is likely to attract women whereas the same course, entitled "The nuts and bolts of kids" may attract men.'
