- Parents lie to their children an average of 100 times a year, according to a survey by insurers Shelia's Wheels reported in the Daily Mail. It found that one in three parents has lied to their child's teacher to get them out of school and twothirds admit to using their children as an excuse for being late.

- Monkseaton Community High School in North Tyneside has spent 10,000 on a set of hi-tech scales to help pupils lose weight, said TheSun. The device measures fat and muscle levels, bone density and vitamindeficiencies.
