- Nearly half the population thinks that boys are more challenging and harder to bring up, reported the Independent. A poll commissioned by the British Association for Adoption and Fostering to mark National Adoption Week found that one in five women would prefer a girl if they were to adopt.

- Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed his ownchildren's nanny to the Board of Guide Dogs for the Blind, after sheexpressed an interest in wanting to serve the state, reported theAssociated Press. Lindsay Schnaidt, who has worked for theSchwarzenegger family for seven years, will be a part time stateregulator.
