The three-day course gives participants the chance to shadow a teacherand experience a typical day in the classroom, see how to plan lessonsand gain advice on applying for teacher training.
The course is organised and funded by the Training and DevelopmentAgency for Schools (TDA) to attract more men into teaching.
Research carried out by YouGov for the TDA revealed last week that onlytwo out of five boys aged between eight and 11 had had a male teacherand that one in 12 have never been taught by a man.
Paul Davies, head of the School of Education at Bedfordshire University, one of the providers running the taster course, said, 'Applicants mayhave not been in a primary school since they were at school themselves, but they are very different organisations from ten or 20 years ago.'
