Money worries causing family strife

A third of parents have seen an increase in family arguments or tensions because of money worries, a poll by Populus commissioned by the Family and Parenting Institute has found.

It said money worries have made it harder to be an active parent for 30 per cent of parents over the last 12 months, and a third plan to spend less on visiting relatives this Christmas. Dr Katherine Rake, chief executive of the Family and Parenting Institute, said, 'The fact that parents are planning to spend less on visiting relatives is particularly concerning, as it could lead to isolation among the elderly.'
