In Oxfordshire, 14 nurseries, pre-schools and children's centres were notified that they will no longer receive funding for their projects, following a £2.75m cut by the Department for Education in Oxfordshire County Council's capital funding.
However, a further 12 settings in Oxfordshire that have had their capital projects frozen since July were given the go-ahead by the council.
Reports of cuts to capital funding are emerging from all over the country as local authorities are being told by the DfE to put on hold any funding not already 'fully committed' to settings in July.
The DfE is in the process of notifying local authorities of their revised allocation.
