There once was a poor woman who was making her daughter a special coat of green moss and golden thread. And so she called her daughter 'Mossycoat'. Now, there was a man who came to the house selling things. He wanted to marry the daughter but she didn't love him.

'What shall I do?' she asked her mother.

'Tell him you won't marry him until he brings you a satin dress that fits you exactly.'

She did, and within a week he brought it - and it fitted perfectly.

'What shall I do now?' she asked.

'Tell him to bring you a silk dress, the colour of all the birds in the air,' said her mother.
