MPs to scrutinise integrated service

A House of Commons select committee will hold an inquiry into the planned reforms to integrate children's services outlined in Every Child Matters. The education and skills committee is to undertake 'a concise overview' of the Green Paper 'to gain an understanding of the broad issues of organisational and professional integration, information management and the needs of parents and children'.

The committee, which will begin taking formal evidence in November, has been charged with looking specifically at the place of health, social services and education within the new landscape of integrated services.

It will also look at the practical implications of the process of collaboration, including the impact on funding streams, the location of staff and facilities, staff and management needs and systems of inspection.
