At the union's annual Professional Nanny conference, held on 18 September at Chiltern College, Ms Daniels was presented the award by 2007 winner Heidi McFayden of Buckden Childcare Agency in Huntingdon.
Ms Daniels has worked as a nanny for 12 years and currently looks after three children as part of a nannyshare. She has a BTEC diploma in caring services and nursery nursing from Enfield College in London, and is trained in Makaton baby signing.
She said, 'Being named as Professional Nanny of the Year is such an honour. I am so grateful to the parents of the children I look after for nominating me and I was touched when they told me that they were putting me up for the award in recognition of fantastic work. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today.
'I hope that with the award I can raise the profile of nannies and help persuade Ofsted to create a register for nannies.'
Second prize in the Professional Nanny awards went to Elizabeth Peck from Chalfront St Peter in Buckinghamshire, third prize went to Joanna Smith from Lambeth, fourth prize went to Jaime Frow from Bovington in Hertfordshire, and fifth prize winner was Carolyn Bain from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire.
