NDNA reveals programme for 2014 conference

Politicians and industry experts will join bestselling children’s author Jez Alborough and hundreds of delegates from the early years sector at the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) 2014 Essential Nursery Conference in June.

The two-day event, chaired by 'Woman's Hour' presenter Jane Garvey and Nursery World editor Liz Roberts, will be held at Lancashire County Cricket Club on 19-20 June.

Events include a cross-party panel debate of early years issues with shadow childcare minister Lucy Powell and co-chair of the Liberal Democrat committee on education, family and young people, Baroness Walmsley. Minister for childcare Elizabeth Truss has been invited to the event.

Education specialist Jenny Mosley will be a keynote speaker at the conference, while other talks include Charlie Taylor, chief executive of the National College for Teaching and Leadership on aspirations for the early years workforce of the future, the new Ofsted national director for early education Nick Hudson on the inspection framework in practice, and Professor Kathy Sylva discussing the impact of early education on life chances and providing an update on the Sound Foundations research project into quality provision for under-threes.
