Speaking in London at Nursery World's second sell-out EYFS conference,Ms Pimentel also alerted delegates to new guidance designed to help themin tracking children's progress under the EYFS. Progress from the Startwill be published in June and will be disseminated through localauthorities.
Changes to inspection under the EYFS, including the move toself-evaluation, were outlined by Ofsted's deputy director, children,Jean Humphreys. She confirmed that self-evaluation forms would be on theOfsted website, in July, with additional information contained in thebooklet Are You Ready for Inspection?.
Ms Humphreys said that under the new regime Ofsted reports would be'shorter and sharper', with key recommendations. 'There will be clearguidance on how provision can improve and develop particularly withrespect to leadership and management, safeguarding and partnershipworking with parents.'
Providers would receive detailed feedback from inspectors after thevisit and will have the chance to read reports before they arepublished.
