Nursery hosts food co-op

A food co-operative has opened at Westburn Nursery Centre, on the
outskirts of Glasgow, to encourage people to eat healthily, offering
fruit and vegetables at 'affordable prices'.

Residents were invited to the launch along with local councillor Richard Tullet, who backed the
scheme, and all were offered free fruit kebabs to sample on the day.

The co-operative is run by Community Links, which already operates six organisations in South Lanarkshire. Val Spence, team leader of health and well-being at Westburn, said, 'The children in the nursery take an active role in supporting the project, helping with setting up, buying and selling.

'Westburn Nursery Centre supports all aspects of health and well-being and this is a lovely way to encourage children to eat their greens.'
