Nursery World's Noticeboard - A bear tea party and letters from the Queen

A ROYAL REPLY

Settings across the country have been receiving letters from the Queen to thank them for gifts they sent to celebrate her birthday and Diamond Jubilee.

Children at Alderley Edge Pre-school in Cheshire (top) and Treetops Nursery Milking Bank in Dudley, West Midlands (middle), were delighted to receive a letter from Buckingham Palace thanking them for the artwork they sent in celebration of the Queen's 60th anniversary.

Children at Kiddi Caru's Plympton Nursery in Devon (bottom) were also sent a letter from the Queen's Lady in Waiting after they sent birthday cards to mark the Queen's 86th birthday.

BEAR NECESSITIES

Throughout September, Busy Bees Day Nursery in Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, took part in Bear Necessities month, an annual fundraiser organised by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). To help raise money to aid WSPA's efforts in helping ill-treated bears, children took their favourite teddy bear to nursery where they enjoyed a special teddy bears picnic.

NNEB REUNION -BRADFORD 1969-71

Calling all nursery nurse students who were at Bradford College of Technology from 1969-71. There is to be a reunion on Saturday 13 October from 12 noon onwards in the lounge bar of the Midland Hotel, Forster Square, Bradford. SUPER SUMMER

Children, staff and parents had a great time at Cambridge Day Nursery's summer festival. Along with a mud corner, music and yoga sessions, the setting also opened an ice-cream factory for one day only, where the children could make their own creations.

MURDER MYSTERY

Young Discoverers Day Nursery and Butterfly's Day Nursery in Selby, North Yorkshire, held a murder mystery evening organised by one of the parents through the company Treasure Trails. Ruth Dowswell, owner of Young Discoverers, said, 'It was an eventful evening and a great way for other nurseries to be involved.'

The best photo received will win £30 worth of books and posters.
