Headteacher Karen Clegg closed down Waverley School three years ago dueto illness. Furniture, tools and toys from the school are now destinedfor the pre-school in Ha Simone, Lesotho, a small community affected bypoverty and AIDS. One former Waverley School staff member has alsopledged to fund meals for the pre-school children.
Ms Clegg said, 'It was my wish it should go to an under-developed schoolwhere it was really needed. It was vital to me that the nursery can beregenerated. It makes you think about how quickly we dispose of things,too.'
Ha Simone is supported by the charity Linking Lives, founded by AnnetteGlenn. She and vice-chair Janice Evans are travelling to the village inSeptember while Linking Lives continues to raise money to transport the20ft container of equipment.
