Child development opportunities
To talk about and make paper chains for decorations To listen carefully and respond to instructions To increase number awareness To learn about co-operating
How to play
* Explain that the children are going to make some chains.
* Have them dance around to music.
* When you stop the music, call out a number, for example, five.
* As soon as they hear the number five, they get into chains of five people linking arms and standing still. (Show them how to link arms.) * Congratulate the first chain to get organised and give each child in the chain a star.
* Go on making different-sized chains.
* Children who have won more than ten stars each are the winners.
Tips
* Control the music and call the numbers by yourself.
* Each time you play, select different numbers.
* Precede or follow up the game by making your own paper chains from sheets of coloured paper.
