If you care for a child aged seven or over, have them get the camera out for Jubilee Day on 3 June. The BBC's Blue Peter magazine is running a competition for young snappers to record whatever they do on the day, whether or not it's connected with the Queen's Golden Jubilee. The child who takes the best picture will win a Canon Sure Shot zoom camera worth 100 and five runners-up will win cameras worth 50. Meanwhile you could make something productive out of the time the children in your care spend watching their favourite TV characters by slipping them the three BBC Learning Together magazines, called Toybox Teach Me, Learning Is Fun and The Magic Key. Home childcarers such as nannies may find it easier than schools to go along with Bob the Builder and the Tweenies, although the magazines' worksheet-style activities and games are carefully based on the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One curriculum. And in The Magic Key you'll recognise Biff, Chip, Kipper and company from those Oxford Reading Tree books that early readers in your care may be bringing home from school.
