‘Bloodlines’, which will be staged in various locations across the country between 20 February 20 and 10 March, will be part of a day’s full training for staff working in children’s centres, nurseries and other professionals.
The play and training day are hosted by the National FGM Centre, a collaboration between children’s charity Barnardo’s and the Local Government Association.
In the morning, specialist performers from Olive Branch Arts will bring to life some of the challenges professionals face in regard to FGM.
The performers will encourage the audience to look at FGM from different perspectives, followed by a discussion of the play.
In the afternoon, the focus will shift to consider strategic efforts to tackle FGM, raising questions such as ‘What makes a good referral?’, ‘When is a medical examination appropriate?’ and ‘How to apply for an FGM protection order?’.
