Pre-school Learning Alliance quality assurance scheme goes to Dubai

The Pre-school Learning Alliance has signed a deal with Sarah Rogers Training to make its Reflecting on Quality scheme available to English language early years settings in the city-state of Dubai.

Michael Freeston, director of quality improvement at the PLA, said, 'The regulatory frameworks of the two countries are very different, but that is why our colleagues in Dubai were keen to become involved in the quality improvement programme.

'Unlike old style criterion-referenced quality assurance schemes, Reflecting on Quality provides a framework through which settings themselves identify areas of their provision that need improving.

The framework then supports the staff team and volunteers to work together to make those improvements happen. It supports early years provision in any circumstances, be they baby and toddler groups, children's centres, sessional provision or even settings overseas.'

Sarah Rogers, who runs the training company, said, 'We are looking forward to working with the PLA and believe the programme will be very welcome in Dubai.'
