Representatives from a range of quality assurance schemes, members of the IiC accreditation panel and representatives from each of the national schemes endorsed under IiC are to attend a meeting to discuss the possibility of setting up such a network on 20 June.
It will be chaired by Sue Owen, director of the Early Childhood Unit at the National Children's Bureau, which has secured the Sure Start grant.
The National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) has suggested that early years partnerships should consider existing national schemes, such as its Quality Counts, before using DfES money to create their own.
Liz Richardson, the NDNA's outgoing senior adviser on childcare, said, 'We need to find a way to make sure that people are not spending money re-inventing the wheel when there must be a better way of using what is out there.'
