This follows today's release of the early years workforce strategy and the scrapping of the rule that Level 3 Early Years Educators must have English and maths GCSEs at grade C or above.
The EYFS now says that, 'To count in the ratios at Level 3, staff holding an Early Years Educator qualification must also have achieved a suitable level 2 qualification as defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List'.
The requirement for newly-qualified Level 2 and 3 entrants to the early years workforce to have either a full paediatric first aid or emergency PFA certificate within three months of starting work has been added to the EYFS. This requirement was intended to start in September 2016, but has not been statutory until this point.
