A single consent form to cover all activities a child may undertake during their time at school is one of the recommendations in a health and safety review by Lord Young, published last week.
Common Sense, Common Safety calls for a different approach to managing risk, which it argues would make it easier for teachers to organise school trips. Other proposals mentioned in the report include introducing a simplified risk assessment for classrooms, shifting from a system of risk assessment to one of risk-benefit, and replacing the Adventure Licensing Authority.
