Satisfied ratings for childminders

The first-ever review of the quality of childminding in Scotland paints a picture of a dedicated workforce, providing high-quality services to satisfied parents. Research undertaken by the Care Commission, the body responsible for registering and regulating childminders in Scotland, found that more than 97 per cent of parents are happy or very happy with their childminder.

Maggie Simpson, director of childminding development at the Scottish Childminding Association said, 'This is great news for the sector. It's a real morale boost for many dedicated childminders, and it will give parents confidence in the quality of childminding services available.'

However, although the overall quality of childminding services was found to be good, there were a small number that gave 'real cause for concern', according to Ronnie Hill, director of Children's Services Regulation.
