School building plans scrapped

Provision
Education secretary Michael Gove has announced plans to freeze the bulk of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, saving more than 1bn a year over five years.
Around 700 projects to build or renovate school sites are likely to be scrapped. Government sources say that plans for the BSF projects were based on the Labour Government's figures for capital expenditure across the Government. It is also thought that the coalition Government believes the BSF scheme was badly designed and implemented.
