Social enterprise nursery schools awarded funding

Two social enterprise nursery schools in Paisley, Renfrewshire, have been awarded 270,000 in funding which will enable them to continue providing childcare until at least 2011.

Rainbow Nursery in Shortroods and Hillview in Ferguslie Park were set upin 2005 as part of the Paisley Partnership Regeneration Company, andrely on public sector and grant funding to operate. Renfrewshire Councilhas approved the funding, split over the next two financial years, toallow the service provision to continue. Derek Mackay, leader of thecouncil, said, 'This will help secure the future of 41 people who areemployed locally at these two nurseries.'
