How did it feel to be awarded an OBE by the Queen for services to children and families?
It was an honour. I took my husband and sisters with me to Buckingham Palace to collect my OBE. I was told how to greet the Queen three times by her staff, but when it came to meeting Her Majesty I froze and forgot it all.
Were you aware that someone had nominated you for an OBE?
No, and I still don't know who nominated me! I was away on holiday with my family and celebrating my mum's birthday when I found out I was a recipient in the Queen's Birthday Honours for 2012.
How long have you worked in your current position?
I started as a locality manager for Sure Start in West Northumberland seven years ago. My job requires me to look after five children's centres.
