Stars Day Nurseries, which has 11 nurseries in the Peterborough region, is collecting used children’s coats and providing them to families who are facing financial pressure across the city.

The Wrap Up Campaign is being led by the Stars and Sparkles Foundation, started by Stars Day Nurseries in association with Stars and Sparkles CIC, which was established by the nursery group’s owners and directors last year after seeing the need for more community-based support in the area.

Stars and Sparkles fundraising manager Katie Clipston said, ‘At a time when families across Peterborough are facing uncertain times, we need to support each other. We want to ensure every child in Peterborough has their basic needs met and is warm. If a child’s basics needs are met, they have better chances of learning and reaching their full potential.

‘Our campaigns are all focussed on supporting local families and helping children to achieve.’

Director of Stars Day Nurseries Mohammed Younis said that experience of working in the most disadvantaged areas of the city has provided employees with a passion and commitment to support local families.

‘We have supported many families over many years, but the need for support is growing, particularly during these challenging times,’ he said.

‘If we can help alleviate some of the pressures by supporting Stars and Sparkles Foundation, then the benefits for the children will be evident as they prepare for school and further education.’
