The Big Picture - Get emotional

Health Activities
A University of Salford dance student has co-created a theatre show aimed at helping children understand their emotions.

The Chit Chat Chalk Show – aimed at four- to eight-year-olds – was created by final year student Rachel Maffei in collaboration with The Knotted Project and Hawk Dance Theatre.
Featuring dance, physical theatre and music, it is planned to tour schools, arts centres and festivals.

‘It shows how you’re allowed to feel angry, for example, as long as you deal with that in a way that’s right,’ Ms Maffei explained.

Children from the University of Salford’s on-site Busy Bees Nursery, which provides daycare for the children of staff and students, were treated to an early performance of the Chit Chat Chalk Show in the recently opened New Adelphi Arts Centre’s studio theatre.
