Communities around the world celebrate Holi this month, an ancient Hindu spring festival.

Holi signifies the arrival of spring, and an opportunity to forget and forgive errors and make new friends. People celebrating the festivity go out and meet others, play and laugh, pay or forgive debts and revisit relationships with people.

Also known as ‘the festival of colours’, revellers throw powder at each other, leaving people covered in different colours from head to toe.

Blue is the colour of Krishna, red symbolises love and fertility, yellow is the colour of turmeric and green stands for spring and new beginnings.

Staff, children and parents at Daisy Chain Children’s Nursery in Wigston, Leicester (pictured) joined in and celebrated Holi with an afternoon of messy play and powder-throwing.
