An education centre designed to encourage city children to explore the environment outside the classroom has been opened in London.
The £2.2m Isis Education Centre at the Look Out, Hyde Park, has been funded by the Royal Parks Foundation and the Halcyon Gallery, and is named after a large bronze sculpture donated by the gallery.
Made from eco-friendly materials, the centre features nature trails, a dipping pond with underwater endoscopes, a mini-allotment, a butterfly bank, a lightning tree and mini-beast habitats. It runs educational programmes for children linked to the national curriculum.
