Thirty puppets are now bringing singing and story sessions to life for babies and young children in Jersey thanks to a local business.
Investment firm First Names Group pooled its Secret Santa funds and gave £1,400 to the Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT) to buy a specialist signing puppet for every local day nursery and pre-school on the island.
The puppets were unveiled at presentation sessions and staff at the nurseries also completed ‘Sing and Sign Training Sessions’ provided by JCCT.
Executive director of JCCT Fiona Vacher said, ‘These puppets bring singing and story sessions to life for every young child.
‘While the benefits are particularly clear for children with communication difficulties, every child enjoys the movement and fun of learning new signs during sing and story times.’
