The Duchess of Cornwall makes a book pledge

The Duchess of Cornwall reads with children from Herbert Morrison School and Golborne Children's Centre at Bookstart's 20th birthday party at London's Kensington Roof Gardens.

Bookstart, the early reading programme run by Booktrust, gives free packs of books to every child aged four and under in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The duchess was joined by Coleen Rooney, Children's Laureate Julia Donaldson, and War Horse author Michael Morpurgo in pledging to share 20 books. The event was also part of Bookstart 20, a nationwide book-sharing campaign, which will be running throughout 2012.
