Nippers Nursery in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, opened in 1994. Its recent glowing Ofsted report highlighted how the management and staff 'work very well as a team'. And when proprietor Julie Addyman explains how she supports staff through personal crises it comes as no surprise that her team is so strong and turnover so low.
'We are a very small nursery setting and I think that makes a difference.
It means we become involved in people's personal lives - we see more of each other than we do of our families.
'The support of an extended family just isn't there for many people these days. We are in some ways more like a family. Certainly we spend the best part of 45 hours with each other every week.
