The Timber Team, which operates from Cheshire and Somerset, has now been contracted by a playgroup in South Cerney in the Cotswolds and a family centre in Herefordshire. It imports buildings from the United States in kit form, featuring double-height vaulted ceilings and large windows.
Rachael Goldsack, who is co-director of the company with her sister Alex, said, 'We have a background in property development and, as we are both mothers, feel we have something different to offer the nursery industry.
Our buildings are designed to meet a nursery's exact needs and have a long lifespan of over 100 years.'
The Timber Team completed the premises for Roselands Community Nursery and Playschool in Paignton, Devon, last year. Nursery manager Julie Morey said it offered the perfect solution to their needs.
'We are part of the Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative and there was pressure on us to open quickly,' she said. 'We could not afford a traditional build with our NNI grants and the timber building could be built very quickly. The building is a very open, airy space, and the 12-foot windows mean we can bring the outside in.'
