Training neglected

More than one in ten professionals working with children have seen an increase in suspected cases of child neglect in the last 12 months, yet nearly one in five had no training or information on what to do, according to research by Action for Children.

The charity surveyed nursery, pre-school, primary and healthprofessionals and found that nearly half of respondents said they neededclearer guidance from the Government or their employers on when tointervene. The union Unison is calling for more social workers inschools, nurseries and children's centres to advise staff.
