'Topping up' qualifications is a big issue. Following a review of over300 awards, CWDC has placed a new duty on employers to ensure that staffdelivering the EYFS hold a 'full and relevant' qualification. InTraining Today we examine how this can be approached effectively.
New qualifications continue to be added to the framework (listed in ourMove On Up section) but a fundamental rethink is underway. CWDC hasunveiled plans to develop a new, all-conquering Level 3 qualification,designed to help the sector move towards the Government aim that allearly years staff be qualified to Level 3 from 2015.
Raising the bar is also about bringing more graduates into the sector tomove towards the Government's aim of having an Early Years Professionalin every setting. EYPs are steadily swelling their ranks and the statusis undoubtedly opening up a career in childcare to a more diverse rangeof individuals.
