The setting in Edwalton will have capacity to care for up to 88 babies and children, and will create between 20 and 30 new jobs when fully occupied.

It has been designed to create a homely feel with a bright, airy and spacious environment, with dedicated rooms for each age group, and featuring a free-flow garden.

Centre director Michaela Leigh will join the new nursery having previously managed Busy Bees Leicester Meridian since it opened in November 2001.

Ms Leigh said, ‘We’re excited to be opening our 357th nursery in the UK here in Nottingham, and we cannot wait to welcome local families inside to have a look around once the build is completed.

Other nursery groups are also continuing to expand.

Family First

Nursery group Family First has acquired another setting - its second deal this month.

The group has added Katey’s House Nursery in Wandsworth, London, to its portfolio. The setting will be re-named The Roehampton Nursery and Pre-school.

With the deal, Family First now operates 19 nurseries.

The vendors decided to sell the Ofsted outstanding-rated setting in order to concentrate on other sites they own.

The deal by Family First follows the purchase of Grace’s Day Nursery, a 73-place setting in Catford, South East London, earlier this month.

Family First chief executive Ollie Humphries (pictured, right) said, 'We are thrilled to welcome two lovely nurseries in the London area to our group as we continue on our mission to become one of the leading providers of high-quality childcare in the UK.

'Both settings have an appreciation of the natural world and have a strong synergy with our five existing Little Garden nurseries.'

Canopy Children's Nurseries

New franchise - Canopy Children’s Nurseries has announced the opening of its flagship nursery in Wembley Park, west London, this autumn.

The group, which has a second setting due to open in Shrewsbury at the start of 2022, has started work on the purpose-built, ground-floor premises in Wembley Park, with a view to opening later this year.

Canopy Wembley Park is a 70-space nursery with flexible booking, allowing parents to book any combination of full days, short days, morning or afternoon sessions, as well as ad-hoc, two-hour drop-in sessions, with childcare provision on weekends planned for the future.

Sarah Beattie, managing director of Canopy Nurseries, said, 'We recognise the changing needs of parents for childcare with more flexibility as their working patterns have changed. Within our nursery in Shrewsbury, we have a wonderful workspace for parents to use.

'We have loved working with Rinu and Sagar, the nursery’s directors, to open the first Canopy Nursery in Wembley Park (opening October 2021) and we are working with other fantastic franchisees to open the second and third Canopy Nurseries in Shrewsbury and Bromley.'
