Ms George was jailed in 2009 for sexually assaulting young children at Little Ted’s, the Plymouth nursery where she worked, and photographing the abuse. She was jailed for an indeterminate period and received a minimum sentence of seven years.
As Ms George has served the minimum term of her sentence she is now eligible to be considered for release by the Parole Board.
The Parole Board for England and Wales has confirmed that Vanessa George’s case, which it is currently reviewing, has been directed to an oral hearing following a review on the papers. A date has not yet been secured for the hearing, however the board claims ‘it is unlikely to take place before March 2017’.
The oral panel will decide to either release Ms George, for her to remain in prison, recommend a transfer to ‘open conditions’ or adjourn for further information.
If Vanessa George is not released, her case must be reviewed at least every two years.
