The CWDC, which will play a major role in delivering the Government's Every Child Matters agenda, put its draft business plan for 2006-2007 out for consultation last week.
The document outlines six strategic objectives and the work underpinning these, including improving the recruitment and retention of the children's workforce and developing standards and qualifications.
The council is to publish a workforce reform prospectus in July which will set out the core skills, knowledge and competences required to work in early years settings at all levels.
CWDC chief executive Jane Haywood said, 'The business plan outlines the range of projects and activities we have planned to support the sector. We urge the workforce to share its views on these.'
