Step by step
* Gather small water and soft drinks bottles holding up to 500ml.
* Let the children select a bottle, remove the labels and rinse out their bottle with warm water.
* Support the children so that they fill the bottles full with tap water.
* Allow the children to add sequins and glitter to their bottles.
* Add some glycerine (available from chemists) to the children's bottles to change the consistency of the mixture. This prevents the sequins and glitter all falling straight to the bottom of the bottles.
* Put the bottle tops back on and secure them with Sellotape.
* The children will enjoy playing with their new creations - rolling and shaking the bottles is great fun.
* Other things can be added to the water and glycerine mixture, such as food colouring or desiccated coconut.
* As an alternative, ingredients may be put in dry bottles to make shakers for musical activities. Encourage the children to add different colours and shapes of pasta, glitter, lentils, broth mix, confetti from paper punches and so on.
