Washing line at landmarks to raise awareness of baby deaths

Birth to Threes
A washing line with 15 babygrows pegged onto it to represent the number of babies that die every day in the UK, will tour London landmarks today (15 June) as part of a national campaign.

Launched by the stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands, the campaign - #15babiesaday - is taking place throughout June, and aims to raise awareness of the fact that 15 babies die before, during or shortly after birth every day in the UK.

Under the month-long campaign, Sands is hoping to raise awareness of the number of babies that die every day, the effect it can have on families and encourage the public to speak more openly about baby death.

To raise awareness, the charity is today visiting 15 ‘iconic’ sites across London – including Trafalgar Square, the London Eye and Tower Bridge - where it will put up a travelling washing line with 15 babygrows pegged on to it to symbolise the babies who lose their lives every day.
