Website aims to help delivery of Every Child Matters agenda

A free online resource is aiming to disseminate best practice to leaders at all levels of the Every Child Matters agenda.

ECM Leadership Direct, launched this week, was developed over three years by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL). The site offers 152 resources including publications, think pieces, case studies, questionnaires, surveys and activities.

NCSL says that it designed the site to be 'a journey through ideas' rather than a search engine, so it will continue to grow and develop. Users will be encouraged to help develop the site by rating the facilities and contributing their own case studies.

Maggie Farrar, NCSL's operational director for ECM, said, 'The mind-mapping approach best encapsulates what ECM is all about. It's inter-dependent, it's organic, it's growing, it is context- dependent. There's no one static resource that would meet everybody's needs.

'We see a perfect use of this resource where extended schools and children's centres are co-located,' she added. 'The leader of the children's centre and leader of the school can sit down together and play with it and explore and pick up resources that they can then use with their collective staff.'

The resource is available from 19 September at www.ncsl.org.uk/ecmleadershipdirect.
