The charity is inviting nurseries and pre-schools to register online for the fundraising days, which will take place between 28 April and 2 May.
Children will be able to collect sponsorship money for dressing up as what they want to be when they grow up and taking part in activities to learn about different jobs.
Participating nurseries will receive a resource pack to help organise their fundraiser, including specially developed activities for early years learning, a ‘totaliser’ poster to show how much they have raised, and a sponsored activities card for every child to collect stickers for completing job-related activities both in nursery and at home.
Save the Children’s playdates will allow parents with babies not yet at nursery to hold fundraising activity days together. Every parent will get a free pack when they sign up, and can find homemade costume ideas online.
Last year more than 160,000 children took part in the ‘I Want To Be…’ fundraiser and raised a total of £45,000 for the charity’s work with children in more than 120 countries across the world.
Anne Race at Save the Children said, ‘Last year the activity was an absolute success and we hope to see many more youngsters get involved this year.
‘By getting involved in the “I Want To Be…” fundraiser, children will be encouraged to think about their own aspirations, while helping other children around the world to fulfil their potential.’
Every early years setting that raises more than £250 will be entered into a prize draw to win a box of 40 fancy dress costumes.
