As a graduate (in something unrelated to childcare) I am able to go straight for professional status, even though I am not a manager. I have had to think long and hard about delaying EYPS in order to gain more experience. I just hope I'm doing the right thing taking the 'longer route'.
Auntiesteffi - Level 4 in Care, Learning and Development
This week I interviewed someone who has just completed the first year of an Early Childhood degree at quite a reputable uni. When I asked how she would deal with a child who was biting she replied, 'Tell them not to ... don't know really.' When I asked her about an activity she enjoys doing with the children she said 'sand'. When asked, what do you think children get out of it, she answered, 'They enjoy it ... don't know what else.' Guess who didn't get the job! Scary stuff I think.
