Childcare workers: changes to disqualification arrangements

Legislation
The Government is seeking views on proposals to make changes to the childcare disqualification arrangements in England.

This consultation sets out three separate options for changing the arrangements in schools and non-domestic registered settings. There is no proposal to make changes to the arrangements where childcare is provided on domestic premises.

The aim is to improve the fairness of the current arrangements, particularly in respect of the ‘by association’ elements, which mean that a childcare worker can be disqualified because someone who lives or works in their household is disqualified.

Comments are welcomed on the proposed options, along with any views on the childcare disqualification arrangements more generally.

Audience:

  • Teachers
  • Headteachers
  • Governors
  • School support staff
  • Early learning and childcare providers
  • Training providers
  • Local authorities
  • Volunteers

The papers can be reached by the link below and the consulation runs from 6 May 2016 to 1 Jul 2016.
