Cutting red tape - sector review: childcare

Legislation
A review into early years childcare providers, seeking to understand regulatory burdens to business

In this review the Government is seeking evidence from early years childcare providers and others in the sector to understand regulatory burdens that are unnecessarily holding back childcare providers as businesses – whether underlying legislation or the way it is delivered.

It is interested in evidence of burdens that appear to act as a barrier to new entrants to the sector, which prevent existing providers expanding their business, unnecessarily divert providers from spending the majority of their time caring for children, or contribute to existing providers leaving the sector.

The review will issue an open call for evidence for eight weeks. It will close on 20 May. Following this phase the Government will consider all of the evidence gathered and publish a report summarising its findings, alongside a formal response setting out plans to address them.
