Launched by the Department for Education, the consultation asks parents and local authorities how to ensure children receive an expected standard of education at home, and about revised DfE guidance documents
This Department for Education (DfE) consultation has two parts.
The first is a call for evidence on issues connected with elective home education. The responses will help the DfE increase oversight of the estimated 45,500 children who are currently home schooled. The consultation focuses on:
- registration of children educated at home
- monitoring of home education provision
- support for home educators
The second part is seeking comments on draft versions of two guidance documents about elective home education. One is designed for local authorities and the other for parents.
Deadline: 2 July 2018
