Making it REAL (Raising Early Achievement in Literacy)

The National Children’s Bureau in partnership with Oldham Council is hosting the third Making it REAL Neighbourhood Hub event in Oldham.

Making it REAL sets out to improve the way practitioners work with parents;  through meaningful early literacy activities to support the early home learning environment and ultimately improve literacy and wider outcomes for young children and their families.

Professor Cathy Nutbrown from the University of Sheffield will speak about the REAL project and ORIM and there will be a choice of workshops which focus on inclusion.

The Early Years teams in Oldham and Blackpool will share their experience of delivering the Making it REAL project and its impact on the families who have taken part.  This will include practitioners describing how Making it REAL is being implemented in settings and how the project encourages positive partnerships with parents through home visits and literacy events.

This event is part of the Making it REAL project delivered the Early Childhood Unit at NCB and funded by the Department for Education.

When? Thursday 25th February 2016 from 9.15 – 3.30
