Male practitioners at Watermead Day Nursery in Loughborough represent 16 per cent of the team – far higher than the 2 per cent UK average.
The nursery said having a mix of both male and female staff ‘massively benefits’ the children. ‘We have long been positive advocates for recruiting male staff, ensuring they feel welcome, involving other male staff in their induction and identifying other men as mentors/buddies. We positively address any negativity, are sensitive to gender bias and aim to raise the profile of our male staff with our parents.’
