Ideas and enthusiasm abound for Kerry Sturmey. Following a successful position as nursery manager of the chain's Taunton setting, Kerry was promoted to regional general manager in June last year and has made a huge impact in just 12 months.
As well as supporting existing nurseries in the chain, she has led numerous new staff teams through the acquisition process - implementing change management strategies to ensure staff morale remains high and children receive the highest quality care throughout the transition.
Four of her nurseries, including two recent acquisitions, have recently been awarded outstanding Ofsted grades under her leadership. The nursery managers attribute their success to Kerry because she recognises their strengths and areas for improvement.
One nursery manager commented on the endless support she receives from Kerry - 'She has supported me hugely in my new managerial role, from the quick question emails to the after-work calls, in order to ensure issues are solved. Kerry makes sure I have the answers I need and together we discuss the best ways to move forward.'
Recently, Kerry has overseen the merger of two of her settings into a newly renovated building, ensuring that children, parents and staff were the main priority.
Her expertise has been noticed by other industry professionals, and in May this year she was asked to act as an external industry adviser instructing on a new BA (Hons) Child Development and Education qualification by South Devon College.
Kerry's hands-on approach makes her a familiar face in all her settings and the children also look forward to her visits.
Her friendly demeanour makes her easily approachable for even new staff members. Kerry will be the first to congratulate someone when they show outstanding practice and is trusted to provide sound advice on professional matters when needed.
