Children made their own poppies using wood in Forest School, and even the smallest of children created their own poppy artwork. Lesley Thompson, senior nursery manager, said, ‘A number of the children’s parents serve in the Armed Forces, and a member of staff once served, so it is a poignant time of year for us.’
Children at Bright Horizons Timperley Day Nursery and Preschool in Cheshire (pictured below) have been learning about the meaning of the poppy. For Remembrance Day this year, the children created a large poppy collage using different materials. They then took part in circle time to discuss the meaning of Remembrance Day and held a two-minute silence.
The children at St John’s Under 5’s Pre-School in Dewsbury (pictured below) learned about why we use a poppy as the symbol to remember this special day. They also watched a short video on a smartboard and made poppies.
